15 February business gifting opportunities
Although February is the shortest month of the year, it’s full of gifting occasions for businesses across various industries to take advantage of. Keep reading to see how you can demonstrate your brand values, celebrate the people who support your business, and deepen relationships with your audiences.
1. Black History Month
Celebrated every February, Black History Month recognizes Black Americans' contributions and influence in America's history. Each year, there is a different theme. This year, the theme of “Black Resistance” explores how African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression since the earliest days in the United States.
Avoid being performative when it comes to your celebrations and diversity initiatives. Use this month (and all year) to show your employees and customers you’re taking action to be more intentional. One way to do this with gifting is by sending gifts supporting minority-owned businesses. Fortunately, we make it easy with our BIPOC-owned gift collection, letting your recipients select a gift and learn more about the small business maker they’re supporting.
2. International Networking Week: February 5-11, 2023
International Networking Week is a global initiative from Business Network International. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the role networking plays in growing a business and as a professional.
Use this week to reach out to your network and re-engage with those you may not have connected with recently. Whether a prospect, mentor, or industry friend, consider celebrating your connection with a gift from our marketplace.
3. National School Counseling Week: February 6-10, 2023
National School Counseling Week is about recognizing and celebrating the role of counselors within US school systems. Counselors help students develop lifelong skills that will aid them far past their time in school, including collaboration, cooperation, perseverance, time management, and self-motivation. They also help them plan for the future and explore potential career paths. Each year, there is a different theme to celebrate the week; this year, the theme is Helping Students Dream Big.
While counselors pour their energy into supporting students, consider giving back to them with a gift of gratitude. Giving them the gift of choice is a great way to celebrate their contributions to your school district.
4. Pride in Foodservice Week: February 6-10, 2023
The Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals hosts this celebratory week yearly to applaud nutrition and foodservice professionals. Whether they work in hospitals, long-term care, schools, correctional facilities, or other non-commercial food settings, these professionals deserve to be recognized. Send one of our gift collections – it’s the perfect way to thank these hardworking professionals.
5. National Freelance Writers Appreciation Week: February 6-12, 2023
From blogs and social media posts to ebooks and whitepapers, freelance writers produce a lot of the content we consume. The second week of February is a time to celebrate their work and contributions to various industries. Freelancers can be more selective in who they choose to work with; help keep your consultants engaged and loyal by sending them a gift of appreciation during this celebratory week.
6. Random Acts of Kindness Week: February 12-18, 2023
“How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.” – Morgan Freeman
Kindness can help make a positive impact on the planet, our communities, and the people around us. Making kindness a pillar of your work culture can help increase engagement and loyalty from your employees and customers. Here are some ideas to show compassion at work this week:
- Connect with a conversation
- Share compliments like they’re gifs in the group chat
- Hold the door open
- Refill your coworker’s water bottle when you refill yours
- Write a handwritten thank you note
- Help clean common space
- Invite your colleagues to take a break and go on a walk
Go the extra kindness mile on Random Acts of Kindness Day on Friday, February 17, 2023, by surprising your team members with a gift of their choice from the Loop & Tie marketplace.
7. International Love Data Week: February 13-17, 2023
Love Data Week celebrates using data to bring about meaningful change and the people who help collect and analyze data to identify how to use the learnings to initiate change. The theme for 2023 is Agent of Change and focuses on presenting training and resources to help new and seasoned data users to help make an impact on the issues they care about.
In addition to providing training opportunities for the data analysts and scientists you work with, consider showing appreciation by surprising and delighting these professionals with a gift. Through our marketplace, they can select an item they like or gift-it-forward to a cause they’re passionate about. Check it out!
8. National Engineers Week: February 19-25, 2023
Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Engineers Week is observed by more than 70 societies and 50 corporations and governmental agencies. This week celebrates how engineers help contribute to our quality of life and the importance of education when pursuing an engineering career.
Each year is celebrated with a different theme, and this year the theme is Creating the Future! Celebrate those helping to build the future with a note of appreciation and a gift of their choice.
9. Groundhog Day: February 2, 2023
Did you know Groundhog Day comes from Pennsylvania Dutch superstition? The idea is that a groundhog comes out of its den, and if it sees its shadow, it will retreat, indicating six more weeks of winter, and if it doesn’t see its shadow, spring is on its way. It’s been celebrated in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, since 1887 and draws worldwide visitors.
If you’re someone like me, you’re rooting for six more weeks of winter. But I recognize I’m in the minority, and most people hope the season of growth and warmth is fast approaching. The dark, cold months can take a toll on one’s mental and physical health, which is where gifting comes in. We have curated various wellness-themed collections that are great to send, so whether Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not, your recipients have something to look forward to.
10. National Women Physicians Day: February 3, 2023
As the first female to earn a medical degree in the US in 1849, this day is celebrated on Elizabeth Blackwell’s birthday. This holiday celebrates and recognizes the contributions of women physicians in medicine. Throughout history, women have helped improve working conditions, conducted research that advanced tests and treatments, cared for patients, and educated the public about health initiatives.
Celebrate the women physicians you work with by sending them a gift of their choice. Great collections to gift are our 10 Million Women or our Women-Owned Business collections, which both support small businesses owned and led by women.
11. National Thank A Mailman Day: February 4, 2023
On average, it's projected that there will be 38,100 job openings for postal service workers each year. In an industry constantly facing a labor shortage, those that work to deliver mail, rain or shine, rarely receive the appreciation they deserve. Don’t miss your opportunity to thank these employees with a gift of their choice.
12. National Caregivers Day: February 17, 2023
National Caregivers Day honors caregivers in home health, home care, and hospice. These caregivers could be professionals or family members helping care for their loved ones. 29% of the US population spends an average of 20 hours per week providing care to chronically ill, disabled, or aged family members and friends. Many of these caregivers also work to help support their families and loved ones.
Use this day to honor all caregivers, whether formal (paid) or informal (unpaid, often family). If you work in healthcare, recognize your employees with a gift to express your gratitude for the care they provide to patients. If you work in another industry, consider showing your support to those employees you know who also act as caregivers. Whether caring for an elderly parent, a sick child, or someone else, they likely face a lot of stress outside of work. Show you care and empathize with what they’re going through by letting them treat themselves to a gift of their choice.
13. Supermarket Employee Day: February 22, 2023
Did you know 83% of food retailers and their employees volunteer and engage in community support? This is one of the many reasons the Food Industry Association celebrates supermarket employees on this day. These individuals are vital to feeding families and their communities, especially during times of crisis.
Working in a supermarket can be physically taxing and frustrating when customers are rude or make a mess. Help make your team members feel valued and appreciated by taking an opportunity to recognize them on this day. In addition to the cake you might serve in the breakroom, consider delighting your employees with a gift of their choice.
14. National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day: February 23, 2023
42% of hospitality workers said they need more recognition and appreciation, which can lead to turnover in an industry with high turnover already. This day serves as an opportunity and reminder to thank your team members that help deliver a great experience to your customers. From restaurants and hotels to theme parks and tourism, several workers deserve a little extra appreciation on this day.
15. World Bartender Day: February 24, 2023
Did you forget to include bartenders when you were celebrating National Hospitality Workers Appreciation Day? No worries if you did, as they have their dedicated holiday the day after!
There are an anticipated 105,300 openings for bartenders each year due to turnover and leaving the industry. Bartenders help take care of patrons, lend a listening ear, and can even help customers escape dangerous situations such as being harassed. Take time to thank your bartenders and celebrate their dedication to your team. We hear a gift is a great way to keep your employees engaged.
As promised, February has several opportunities to recognize your employees and customers. Seize these occasions to help boost engagement and loyalty with your company. Schedule a time to talk with us if you're ready to scale your gifting.
